Cebu - The Asean Gala Night
All's well that ends well (well... almost.) A bunch of kids were absent, the "flying" Bayanihan lady in Sayaw Sa Bangko made it to the venue in the nick of tame, the show did go on. Lea was awesome.
The Mandaue Children's Choir was impressive.
The Bayanihan Dancers were marvelous.
But RJ Jacinto totally spoiled the night by missing one line in his song, sending the dancers and video screens out of synch. (I was too upset to take his photo.)[Fuzzy photos taken from the control booth]
Cebu – The Asean Gala Night Rehearsals
I finally made it to Cebu last weekend after the trip (and the Asean Summit) was moved to January. The trip was to make sure I was on standby for on the spot changes in the script for the Gala Night, which I had written a couple of months ago. It was also a great opportunity to watch Lea Salonga perform a few feet away...
And Freddie Aguilar...
And the amazing Bayanihan Dancers...
After three days of rehearsals, we woke up to a panic situation: apparently, more than fifty performers had been hospitalized the night before for severe stomach pains. But we had eaten the same food! Well, except that we had a late lunch and missed the Clam soup, and we were too full to partake of the Palabok meryenda – the two main suspects in the mini-CSI that was conducted. But as the saying goes, the show must go on...
